Sixty-three-year-old redeira (net repairer) in Muxía, on Galicia's Costa da Morte. Learned the trade from her mother Dolores, who learned from her grandmother Asunción. Her hands read a net the way a mechanic hears a fault in an engine — not by looking for weakness but by sensing its wrongness in the overall pattern. She survived the 2002 Prestige oil spill and kept repairing. She does not consider her work art. The knots have to be tight. Otherwise they don't hold.
